FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The TechDeck is a multi – adjustable workstation that incorporates a Body and Neck Support Platforms to safely hold stringed instruments.

The most important reasons are

WORK EFFICIENCY:

The TechDeck simplifies every operation you perform. It speeds up all stringed instrument repairs , builds , and restorations.

DAMAGE PREVENTION:

The instruments can be firmly supported without danger of crushing, marring or scratching the instrument surface. (An optional leather cover is available for the body platform)

SETUP TIME:

The instrument setup time is drastically reduced.  The indexed lift mechanisms allow for a quick one hand adjustment to independently lift the Neck and Body Support Platforms to your desired position. It takes seconds to orient and secure the instrument for any operation.

Stringed Instrument: Repairs / Setups / Adjustments / Fabrication

The TechDeck supports a variety of stringed instruments.

Bowing – Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass.

Plucking – Ukulele, Bazooki, Mandolin, Acoustic, Electric and Bass guitars, Sitars, Pipa  and other oriental Instrument types.

You cannot use the Techdeck to support frame based string instruments – Grand Piano, Upright Piano, Cymbalom, Harp etc.

However the TechDeck is stable enough to support a full sized Upright Bass, while levelling a fingerboard.

Most definitely! The newly released models are much lighter compared to the discontinued TechDeck Elite (71 lbs. with the case). The TechDeck GPS workstation is 32 lbs and TechDeck XLT workstation is only 28 lbs. Both models feature a compact design integrated into a traveling case.

It is the neck support assemblies that are different.

Essentially:  the cases,  the body platforms, the body straps and the leather upgrade cover for the foam pad are identical on both units.
The GPS unit has the full slidingly-received, pivoting neck assembly.

The XLT is fully capable of handling the most common repair issues:
1. The fret dress at the neck-to-body junction
2. Spot dressing
3. Any type of pickup installs / electrical work
4. Assembling kit guitars
5. Nut replacement on acoustics / electrics
6. Any type of setup and intonation work
7. Saddle replacement on acoustics
8. Re-gluing bridges
9. Fixing cracks
10. Finish touch-ups

The TechDeck GPS main advantage over the TechDeck XLT:

1.  Complete Re-Frets

2. Levelling fingerboards

3. The GPS  workstation has an optional Neck Surgery Kit used for broken head-stock repair

4. The GPS workstation also has an optional mini-neck assembly ( mandolin / use necks )

5. The optional long V-block allows to have extended support for long bass necks during fingerboard levelling + fret work.

6. Tapping in frets is also accommodated on the GPS for every possible case scenario

In Summary:
We are just making every guitar setup and repair job, safer / faster / easier / more accurate than ever

If you feel you will be doing full fret jobs and fingerboard levelling / neck surgeries etc …. Then the GPS model is the right fit.

The XLT fits the bill for all of the common 10 operations mentioned above.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Is the TechDeck shipped assembled?” el_id=”1478658499146-5c82e483-5ec9″]Yes.  There is very minimal assembly required.
